Drowning in RSS Feeds? Build a Smarter Workflow with Automation
I have a digital hoarding problem. I have subscribed to over 70 RSS feeds, and I can’t keep up with the flood of new articles. I needed a way to filter out the noise and focus on the most relevant content. So, I built an automated RSS workflow that helps me stay updated without feeling overwhelmed.
To solve this, I built an automated RSS workflow that helps me stay updated without feeling buried in unread articles. Here’s how I did it.
The Problem: Managing Information Overload
Every day, hundreds of new posts flood my RSS feeds. Manually sorting through them to find valuable content became time-consuming and stressful. I needed a solution to filter out noise and highlight the most relevant articles efficiently.
I want to read the summary of the article preferrably a push notification, so I can decide if I want to read the full article or not. I also want to save the important articles for later reference.
I wanted to build a lightweight system which can be deployed on my k3s cluster
The Solution: My Automation Workflow
I created a smart content consumption system using these tools:
- Miniflux — A lightweight RSS reader to fetch new posts.
- n8n — An automation tool that triggers workflows.
- LLM (Large Language Model) — I am using Gemini’s free tier to generate quick summaries.
- Telegram — For receiving instant notifications.
- Readeck — To bookmark important articles for future reference.
The Benefits
This workflow has completely changed how I consume content:
- Time-Saving: I no longer spend hours sorting through feeds.
- Focus on Relevance: The LLM summaries help me quickly decide what’s worth reading.
- Clutter-Free: Important articles are saved to Readeck, keeping my bookmarks and tabs organized.
Final Thoughts
Information overload doesn’t have to be your reality. By automating your RSS feed management, you can stay informed without drowning in content. Try building your own workflow using tools like Miniflux, n8n, and Telegram to streamline your content consumption.
Start small, tweak as you go, and enjoy a smarter way to stay updated!
